1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your phone number or email address for authentication purposes. This is the minimum required to identify your account.

1.2 Birth Details

To generate accurate Kundli charts and provide astrological guidance, we collect birth details that you voluntarily provide:

• Date of birth
• Time of birth
• Place of birth (converted to latitude/longitude coordinates)

You may also add birth details for family members. These are stored under your account and are not accessible to other users.

1.3 Conversation Data

When you interact with Drishti's AI astrologer in normal mode, your questions and the AI's responses are stored to provide persistent context and personalized guidance across sessions. This is what allows Drishti to remember your concerns and provide relevant follow-up guidance.

1.4 Incognito Mode Data

When you use Incognito Mode, no conversation content is stored. Only anonymous metadata (query count for billing purposes) is recorded. Your birth chart data is still used for accurate computation during the session, but no record of what you asked or what was answered is retained.

1.5 Usage Analytics

We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how features are used and improve the app experience. We do not use session replay or screen recording, given the sensitive nature of birth details and astrological queries. Analytics data is aggregated and not linked to your astrological information.

1.6 Device Information

We collect standard device information (device model, operating system version, app version) for crash reporting and compatibility purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively for:

• Kundli computation: Generating mathematically accurate birth charts using Swiss Ephemeris
• AI interpretation: Providing personalized astrological guidance shaped by traditional Vedic astrology principles
• Persistent memory: Remembering your context across conversations so the AI can provide relevant, personalized guidance (normal mode only)
• Family chart management: Storing and managing charts for your family members under your account
• Product improvement: Aggregated, anonymized analytics to improve app features and performance
• Account management: Authentication, billing, and customer support

3. Data Sharing

We share data only with the following service providers, solely for the purpose of operating the app:

• AI model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google): Your questions and chart data are sent to AI providers to generate interpretations. These providers process data according to their respective privacy policies and do not use your data to train their models when accessed via API.
• Cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services): Your data is stored on AWS servers. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
• Payment processor (Razorpay): For processing payments. We do not store your payment card details.
• Voice processing (Sarvam AI): If you use voice input, audio is processed by Sarvam AI for speech-to-text conversion.

4. Your Privacy Controls

Drishti gives you meaningful control over your data:

• Incognito Mode: Ask questions without any conversation being saved. Toggle on/off at any time.
• Selective Forget: Delete specific messages, entire conversations, or all references to a particular topic from Drishti's memory.
• Family Member Management: Add or remove family member charts at any time.
• Account Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time via the Profile section or by emailing privacy@drishtiapp.in.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure with the following security measures:

• Encryption at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+)
• Database access restricted to application servers only
• Regular security updates and monitoring
• JWT-based authentication with token expiry

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to use Incognito Mode for sensitive queries.

6. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained as long as your account is active.
• Conversation history: Retained until you delete it using Selective Forget, or until account deletion.
• Incognito session data: Not retained. Discarded immediately after the session ends.
• Analytics data: Aggregated analytics are retained for up to 24 months.
• After account deletion: All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of your deletion request. Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained.

7. Children's Privacy

Drishti is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@drishtiapp.in.

Note: You may add your child's birth details to your own account for the purpose of generating their Kundli chart. This data is managed under your account and your control.

8. Third-Party Links

Drishti may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
